Colyton Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with national legislation transposing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the EU Council.

This accessibility statement applies to the website

Compliance status

This website is fully compliant with national legislation transposing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council. However, the WebAim Accessibility evaluator is not able to evaluate PDF files for accessibility. Fortunately, using a screen reader, blind persons can hear a faithful rendition of the PDF page contents.

This statement was originally prepared and published on 8th August 2020 and augmented, and re-published on 13th August 2020.

The Method used to prepare the statement

Colyton Parish Council's web design company, made an actual evaluation of each web page for compliance with the requirements of Directive (EU) 2016/2102. The tests included (i) validation of the code, (ii) the WebAim accessibilty evaluator, and (iii) a screen reader test to ensure that blind persons would hear a faithful rendition of the page content.
The pages are coded in HTML5/PHP and styled with CSS3. This, combined with a responsive web design (RWD) layout ensures that font size and spaces are constant on any screen size or device. Therefore, the pages are accessible to persons with hand tremors, poor motor coordination and impaired sight. Also, they do not have to zoom or scroll horizontally.

The various tests found no errors or warnings. Alerts notified viewers that they were about to be switched to a PDF file. This is normal.

Skip menu link: added a 'Skip menu, go straight to main content' link to the top of each page (except the home page). This gives Blind persons using a screen reader, the option of either bypassing the menu, or listening to the menu button links.

The statement was originaly published on 8th August 2020, and was augmented and re-published on 13th August 2020. Note: Colyton Parish Council requests frequent updates to its website. Therefore, will be updating the Accessibility Statement more frequently than specified by the enforcement body.
